A Shabby Chic Christmas in Miniature

I have kept this box because I just knew I could use it for something. Here is what I made. It is a shabby chic Christmas cottage. This cottage is inspired by the blog My Shabby Streamside Studio.
You must visit this blog to see the world's cutest cottage.

I made the curtains out of toile and added dried flowers. I made pink balls for the tree out of clay.

The fireplace is made of cardboard and painted white. The mirror is an old pendant from a neck
lace. The cake is made from clay.

The pink present is made of clay. The couch is made of styrofoam and tissue paper.
If you look closely there is a "fire" in the fireplace. My 8 year old son Kyle made a little fire out of cardboard and colored it red. There is even "smoke" colored black behind the fire. I think it is perfect.

The little decorations on the shelf came from my dollhouse.

My husband always jokes around with my sons and says oh you better never leave a box around because it will because Mommy will make it into a house. Well he was right about this little box. I was stuck at home waiting for someone to fix the boiler so I used only things I had on hand for this project. BTW my comma does not work so excuse me for the punctuation errors.

This box had the right size to become a shabby chic cottage at Christmas. I painted the box white and wiped it with a rag before it dried to give it that old look.

The box is 8 inches long and 5 inches wide and 5 inches tall. A perfect size for a cozy shabby cottage. Of course a fire place was required which was made of cardboard.

I cut the doors and windows out with an exacto knife. I made the door knob and hardware out of sculpty clay.

The shelves are made of thin cardboard.

I had a green brush tree but wanted a white one. I placed the tree in bleach for about half an hour and it stripped the green right off of it. I then spray painted it white. The little tree on the mantel was done the same way.

Here is a peek from the side windows.

Thanksgiving Table

Can you all help me out? Which dishes should I use for Thanksgiving dinner? Should I use Johnson Bros. Friendly Village (above). Or what about Johnson Bros. Olde English Countyside (below).

Or how about Ascot by Woods and Sons England (below).

I will be using some pumpkins and little squash for
the centerpiece.

I filled the vases with dried cranberries and
flowers.

I cut holes in the tops of the little pumpkins and
apples and put little candles in them. Thanks for your help.

Red Putz Houses

Today is Rednesday at It's A Very Cherry World hosted by Sue. I would like to share with you two 1950s Putz houses I just purchased to add to my growing collection. I found them at the local antique store.

Here is a whole village of Putz houses set up. I love these little houses. They are small so you do not need much room to set them up.

Thanks for visiting and hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Decorating For A Miniature Christmas

The little pink house is getting ready for Christmas.

The garland was hung on the porch railings.

The vintage tree was placed on the porch and the Christmas pillows placed on the swing.

A Christmas afgan for cold winter night.

The mailbox must be decorated as well.

The man of the house is still stringing the lights.

Well it is getting late and we are almost done.
Thanks for visiting.

Pink Christmas Trees

Isn't this a cute pink tree? I found it at Michaels. It is only about 16 inches tall.

Here it is with the lights on.

Here is a pink Christmas tree made of candy hearts. The artist is my 8 year old son, Kyle. Each year my town has an annual tree lighting.  All the kids in our school district are asked to make a poster announcing when the event will take place. The posters are hung in all the stores in our neighborhood. The posters are all judged and there is a winner for each grade level and an overall winner. It is a big event for all the kids. My son worked hard on this and if you look closely he even used his beloved lego people. This poster even lights up! Behind each snowflake and the top of the tree there is a bulb.  I really hope he wins.

Here is a fun buffet for the holidays which kids can enjoy as well as adults.

On the left back we have brownie pops. In front is fried apple pockets.

Here is a chocolate igloo.

Above is acorn and pumkin shaped carrot cake with cream cheese filling.

Here is a gingerbread cake village.

And here is my favorite thing on the table, a miniature farm at harvest time.

A French Tablescape

Today I am participating in Tablescape Thursday, hosted by Susan from Between Naps on the Porch. She is having a great give away today. I thought I would share my favorite tablescape, french themed.

Everything on the on the table is from Sur La Tab, including these eiffel tower tea light holders.

I added these jeweled tea light holders as well for a little sparkle.
I love the writing on these glasses. It feels like a french bistro.

I was even able to get these espresso cups to match the theme.

Here is another view with my favorite flowers.

I  used red chargers to contrast with the black on the plate.

Here is a top view.

The toile napkins and eiffel tower napkin ring are also from Sur La Tab.

Love these salt and pepper shakers.

Thanks for visiting. Check out all the other tablescapes at Susan's blog.
